How to Celebrate Your Student’s Teachers This Year

Gift giving and celebrations are often reserved for families and friends. But it’s just as important to recognize and appreciate the advisors and teachers who have helped shape your student’s academic success. Here are a few ways you can recognize and express gratitude towards your student’s teachers this holiday season.

Handwritten Notes

Handwritten notes can go a long way to express your appreciation! Encourage your student to spend a few minutes writing a letter or card to their teachers. It’s even better if they can include specifics about the ways their teachers have helped them. These notes are an easy way to let your teacher know how valued they are.

Gift Baskets

Gift baskets that have some of your student’s teachers' favorite things in them can be a nice treat for them heading into the holiday break. You can add in some of their beloved treats, giftcards or even classroom supplies you know that they need every year. These baskets not only show your appreciation for them, but it shows how well your student knows their teachers.

Thank You Videos

If you’re short on time, have your student send their teacher a video of them thanking them for their help and wishing them a happy holiday season. Encourage your student to include some of their favorite class activities, or reflecting on a part of the semester that they particularly enjoyed. These videos are a unique and easy way to show your student’s teacher how much you appreciate them!

Donate Books in Their Name

One unique way to show your student’s teacher how much you appreciate them is to donate a book or a set of books to the school library in their name! If there was a book that the teacher read to your student in class, that could be a great choice to consider donating!

Create Some Art

If your student loves art, or their art teacher, creating a piece of art just for them can be a great way to show them that you value their time and attention. Handmade gifts are always the most thoughtful!

The holiday season isn’t the only time of year your student can express their gratitude for their teacher! Especially if your student is off to private school in the new year, encourage them to keep a positive relationship with their teachers.

We encourage you and your family to take advantage of the holiday season and express gratitude to the teachers and advisors who have made an impact on your student’s life. After all, joy is the simplest form of gratitude and these gifts will bring nothing but joy! This season, how will you be celebrating the educators who make a difference in your student’s life?
